Browns stumble in last game, but are happy about the season.
The Browns lost to the Chargers in the last game of the season, but was still very happy with their season after going 12-4. Coach Pigskin stated," that we never expected to go this far this season." "We are still building the type team we want to have." It's the first time in the Browns history that they have won 12 games in the PFL. They are expecting to make the playoffs for the first time ever also. The Browns were trying to keep pace with the Steelers for the division title, but it just wasn't to be this season. The Browns were pleasantly surprised how their rookies from this season's draft stepped up and also the players that came to the Browns by trade. HB Henry and WR Thomas made major contributions to the team this season. "Our team matured beyond our beliefs this season, and we are looking forward to the playoffs and the future" said Coach Pigskin.

Kicker cost Browns a victory!!!!
Browns kicker Jake Elliot (93 ovr, 94 kpw 90 acc) misses field goal with 3 seconds left against the Bears. After making field goals at a 86% rate last season Elliot is just making 78% this season. Big change!

Browns QB Manziel threw his helmet against his locker, after driving the Browns down the field with no timeouts left, after the Bears had taken the lead with just a 1:28 left in the game, to be able to win the game with a field goal, Kicker Elliot couldn't have had a straighter shot, but pushed it off to the right. Coach Pigskin said "after watching how he has been kicking so far this season, i was holding my breath."

Hats off to the Bears and their coach Mr Lynch. gg

Brownies off season report
The Browns were very active this off season. Continuing to deal with cap money problems, the Browns had to not only get rid of some good players with huge contracts, but find a way to replace the talent they would be losing and stay within the 15 mil cap penalty. After watching a lot of game film from last season the coaching staff also saw, that they had to get some better players as backups, because injuries and stamina hindered the defense in most of the games last season. The Browns started off the process by trading off one of the top running backs in the league in HB Gurley being sent to the Cardinals. Next the Browns shipped off WR Patterson to the Panthers , dumping another big contract along the way. With two top players remaining on the trade block in RG Carter and SS Jarrett and no teams showing any interest, the Browns had to release them to free agency, all the while picking up some important cap money heading toward the draft. Next the Browns had to decide what players they wanted to target in the draft, who could they afford, and where in each round did they want to make their picks. After looking over their situation the front office and coaching staff decided to go the trading route mostly, to pick up some talent with less contracts than they would have to negotiate with players agents through the draft. After their trade with the Cardinals for Gurley, the Browns now had the 1.2 and 1.7 picks in the first round of the draft. Knowing very well their cap money wasn't going to allow them to stay in that situation, they first traded their 1.7 pick to the Cowboys for their 1.25 (Colts), 1.28 (Cowboys), 3.10 (Lions). Next the Browns and Bears worked out an agreement, with the Browns sending their 1.2 pick for the Bears 1.21, LT Moton, a young, talented player who as a rookie last season proved himself with 102 pancakes and no sacks. Also included from the Bears was WR Thomas one of the top receivers last season, who made all pro with 48 catches for 1059 yrds, 10 td's, 22 yrd average. With this trade two positions of need were also filled. Next, after hearing a rumor that the Dolphins were wanting to shop HB Henry, the Browns were on the phones contacting the Miami brain trust. After some negotiations the Browns sent the 1.21 pick they had received from the Bears to the Dolphins for HB Henry, who is a very nice size running back 6'3" 242 lbs, 90 spd, 91 acc 93 agil, 25 yrs, with room to improve. Now the Browns needed a FB to block for Henry so after releasing their aging fullback, the Browns picked up FB Williams 24 yrs, 6'1" 260 lbs 81 spd, 76 str, 83 acc, 74 car, 82 btk, from the Panthers for Brown's 4.2 pick. After all the maneuvering , the dust cleared and the Browns had decided to draft at 1.25 (SS Shalom Lunai 88 ovr ), 1.28 (LOLB Damien Wilson 83 ovr ), 2.2 (DT Rod Joyner 88 ovr ), 3.2 (RE Ryan Russell 83 ovr ), 3.10( TE Jacob Hollister 86 ), 3.20 (FS London Franks 77 ). The Browns were satisfied with the rookies they drafted and some of the youth they got in the trades. After starting with - 29.05 million cap room, and after signing a free agent , traded players and draft picks the Browns are now finally back in the black at + 1.53 mil cap. Browns organization is now looking forward to the up coming season, and hopefully the Browns will improve over last season, and barring any major injuries , be competitive.

Reflecting on the Brown's season
After taking over the 2019 Browns, Coach and General Manager Pigskin lead the team to their first winning season. Going into the 2020 season , expectations had increased to the point that the coach and the front office were at least expecting the same result or at worse a .500 season to follow. With money problems still existing going into 2020 , there were some good players shipped off to other teams or released to free agency. The Browns are in rebuilding mode and everyone in the organization knows it will take time. The one thing that came unexpectedly was the rash of injuries to the team, that devastated the team. The Browns didn't have the talent to overcome the injuries to key personnel. The biggest injury to affect the offense and the team as a whole was the loss of QB Manziel, for the season. Not having an experienced signal caller behind Manziel really showed how important that is. With first year QB Taylor as the backup, and free agent pick up QB Hundley, sharing the duties, the Browns trudged on. With a few bright spots here and there, neither quarterback did enough to win the starting job out right, as it was a game to game call. The two quarterbacks combined for 6 td's , 16 int's, and a total overall rating of 39.8 %. With the anemic quarterback play, the Browns had to depend a lot more on the running game, for which HB Gurley responded with 1381 yrds , 4.3 yrds a carry. HB Johnson toted the rock for another 506 yrds, 4.3 yrds a carry. Along the way the Browns also lost backup WR and kick and punt returner Lee for the season, then not being out done by injuries on offense, the defense got in to the action, losing starting MLB McClendon for the season. With a very tough schedule, and an offense that can't score points and can't keep the defense off the field, the coaching staff saw time after time, how tired the defense would get against drives against opposing teams, having to call timeouts just for the defense to catch their breath. "We were in a lot of games, playing hard til we just got wore out." commented coach Pigskin. Even down to the last game of the season against our divisional leading Steelers, the Browns played very hard and the defense stood toe to toe with the Burg boys, but we just couldn't do anything on offense, when we needed and then there were the turnovers that killed the team.
Now for the bright spots for the team, rookie CB Wilson had a breakout season, having 53 tackles, 3 for loss, 4 intercepts, 1 td, and 18 passes defended. Kicker Elliot was 19-23 field goals made for 86%. The coaching staff was some what disappointed in rookie LOLB Rivers, who they believed just didn't play up to his expectations. Maybe a harder training camp will improve that situation. One of the biggest problems that has continues to haunt this team, is all the drops of the wide receivers. Coach Pigskin not caring about making any friends stated, that the team had a couple receivers , that the only thing they have caught lately are fat contracts. Going into the off season the Browns will once again be active in trading to improve their cap margin, and to get the team in the mold of what coach Pigskin wants.

Trade Rumors : HB T. Gurley, RG R. Carter, LT J. Pugh, MLB R. McClendon, LT J. Bitonio, QB J. Manziel

Brown's first winning season !
The Browns had to fight a tough Jets team and fight thru adversity to gain a win and gain the first winning season for the Brown's organization and the fan base in a long time. The game was a defensive struggle the first half, with the second half being as intense as a game could be with the Browns scoring with about 15 seconds left to gain the win. The Jets played tough defense all game long, basically shutting down the passing game and knocking out Browns QB Manziel toward the end of the 3rd quarter, till he returned to lead the Browns on their final winning drive. There were two significant plays that helped bring about the win for the Browns, one play being where the backup QB C.J.Taylor hit TE Wilson down the middle on a 3rd and long to set up a score to take the lead midway thru the 4th quarter 13-10. But the Jets came charging back and converting a 4th down situation along the way to drive deep into Browns territory before being held to a field goal , but using up a lot time to tie the score at 13 - 13. With less than two minutes left in the game the Browns didn't have much confidence in their backup quarterback, to pull a win out, so decided to be conservative and maybe get to overtime and see what would happen. So after a run on first down, and a short gain, into the game came QB Manziel, with his right ankle heavily taped. On second and long the Browns figured to go to the pass and see what would happen, as Manziel dropped back and the rush pressuring him, he goes long to WR Patterson for a 41 yrd gain putting the Browns in business in the Jets territory. After a run by HB Gurley and another run by HB Johnson and a pass in the flat to WR Benjamin the Browns find themselves at the Jets 6 yrd line. With the clock ticking down the Browns still have one time out left. After a short run of 3 yrds by FB Stabler the ball rests on the 3 yard line with 26 seconds left. The Browns turn to HB Gurley one more time and as he breaks a tackle at the 1 and falls into the end zone the Browns have taken the lead. With the score at 20 - 13 the Browns kickoff holding their breaths that there isn't a return for a td by the Jets. The Jets have enough time for a couple of plays, and after their last incomplete deep pass that gives the Browns their win the game disconnects. The score was 20 - 13. Like i said this was a very intense game, with the Jets being very tough in all aspects of the game, making it a lot of fun to play. I'm pretty sure if Manziel hadn't came back for the last drive, that the end result may have been very different. The Dog Pound were celebrating late into the night after the game.

Brown's mid-season
As the Brown's finished half their schedule, coach Pigskin has yet to figure out what kind of team he has. The Browns can look like a contender at times, and then turn around and look so bad that coach Pigskin has labeled them as the most fickle team he has coached. "I believe injuries to our starting CB and FS has had some effect on our team, but that is not the major problem" Pigskin said. He believes, that it is as he thought coming to Cleveland, that it is going to take some work. The program has been losing for so long, it just seems the players get frustrated when things go wrong, that they just kinda give up. Coach Pigskin said, that players constantly get out of position on defense, and on offense we just make too many mistakes and have way too many turnovers in close games. The coach stated that he still has to bring some players in from the draft and possible trades and free agency to put his mark on the team. Coach Pigskin just asks that the fans be patient. " We are still striving to have a winning season, first and foremost." Late note, Browns lost #1 WR Josh Gordan due to injury for at least 3 weeks . Seems the injury bug has bitten hard in the last three weeks.

Browns prepare for New Coach, New Program, New Start
The Browns in the off season hired Coach Pigskin, after Coach Bcreek, decided to take some well deserved time off from coaching. Coach Pigskin, has always wanted to be the coach of the Browns but there were always circumstances which kept the Browns and Coach Pigskin from coming together as a program. "Now that i'm here finally, i'm looking forward to turning the page in Brown's history and installing the winning tradition the Browns were known for from the 50's thru the early 80's. " said Coach Pigskin. The new Brown's coach has brought in a whole new coaching staff, and a program that he used while coach of the Bengals and Lions. "We will start with the defense first, because i'm a firm believer in the fact that a solid defense will propel the rest of the team into contention and hopefully into the playoffs," continued the new coach. Looking at the past the, Browns have not had a winning season for a long time, and the new coach said, that was at the top of his list of accomplishments, to post a winning season and show the players and the town of Cleveland that the Browns can and will compete not only in the AFC North but in the PFL as a whole. Ask by the press if coach thought he had a solid team to start with, Pigskin replied, that the Browns had some talent, but a lot of big contracts, that played a big part in how the organization had to approach this season and to prepare for up coming seasons for the new cap money rules that will be in affect starting with this season. Coach Pigskin said he felt they did very well in the draft and in free agency, not only bringing in some nice talent but finding that talent that worked well within the tighter cap rules. The main thing Coach Pigskin wanted to speak about was the fact, he was looking forward to competing against all teams in the PFL, but his main goal was to change the Browns from being in the cellar of the division to rising to the top. "We know we have a big challenge ahead of us, with the Steelers being the dominate team in the AFC north, but there are the Bengals, and Ravens who have very talented teams and coaches as well," Pigskin pointed out. The coach said he would continued to get settled in and has been busy preparing for the teams upcoming game with the Cowboys, to kick off the season. In the near future he would prepare and and release a statement concerning the draft , free agency and the new direction the team is headed . Stay tuned!

Running out of DBs
Is it just us or is everyone seeing an increase in DB injuries?
I know that I signed 3 DBs this season due to injuries and theres been weeks that i had extra safeties or I would have to have signed another and this week vs the Bears it seemed like every play one of his or ours was getting hurt .. and both of us walked away with 1 more guy injured... I'll be glad when Joe Haden gets back...without him we have been terrible on D.
It's great to see TJ Ward back and it helps alot .... if we can stay healthy for a week or 2 we can still finish the season strong
